Tires.
So I was wondering if there is a cheaper alternative to the potenzas. My wife is screaming about how quickly I ate the rubber off this car.
I have the 18 inch wheels. Any help will be appreciated.

The good news is that these are all season tires with a much higher tread wear rating than the Potenza RE050's. The bad news is that they cost about the same (but you will have to replace them less often).
My G35S has about $22,500 miles on it and my tires are ready for replacement. I will be replacing them in the next few weeks with the Goodyear Eagle F1's.
Check out http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Compar...29&RunFlat=All for details.
Regards,
Wow, really? Just the two options? Man my wife is gonna be pissed. It's her car. I drove the crap out of it for the 1st 6 months then I got my truck. She said when we bought it she didn't want something that we would have to replace tires on a lot. I am in big big trouble.
Do the goodyears stick like the potenzas? Those tires were like a cat on carpet.

Do you have 18's or 17's? If you have 18's did you use 245/45-18's all around?

I don't know if the Goodyear's have traction as good as the Potenza's, since I have not yet purchased them for my car. Although, according to the ratings on the Tire Rack web site, they have are supposed to have excellent dry and wet traction, as well as being an All-Season tire. My main reason for choosing them over the OEM Potenza RE050's is simply because I don't want to replace my tires every year.
Also, I typically prefer an All Season tire simply because the tires will perform reasonably well in all weather conditions. Performance for me is important, but not the most critical factor to consider.
Good luck.

Anyway, search in the Tech and Tire sections, you can easily go to a slightly different size up front, then the choices open up a lot. I'm probably going to switch to Pilots once the OEMs wear out.
EDIT>>> Can't find the thread for some reason - think the idea was switching to 225/45/18 or 235/45/18 at the front, which opens up a lot of options.
This is a handy tire calculator for seeing the difference - note that there's a min / max wheel width for tires.

I was speaking with the Service Manager at Infiniti of Pleasanton yesterday and asked him what the recommendation was regarding the staggered tire setup on the G35 Sport. Specifically, I asked if they had inquiries in the past regarding the replacement of the OEM tires (225-50/18, 245-45-18) with the same size all around.
I fully expected to get the standard answer, but he then told me that the VDC is programmed differently on the Journey versus the Sport to compensate for the staggered tire sizes. Bottom line, he said for example, you could replace all four tires with the 245/45-18's but then the VDC may not work properly.
I don't know if this is legitimate, but it is something to consider and possibly research further.
Any thoughts?

ask him if the VDC is "programable" and if it is reprogramed for journey models with the (sport) wheel upgrade. Then ask evryone on this site who has had different wheels than stock and see if their VDC screws up.

We agreed a) yes, the G and my driving is going to eat tires, costing us close to $1k a year - so what??, b) I'm the car guy (e.g. she's the house "guy"), so she needs to respect my opinion when I say new tires are needed, for my car or her Sequoia (and BTW, Sequoias eat front tires too), and c) I will just buy the tires and not tell her about it so she doesn't have to stress.
Note that (c) was her idea...
