Tire Rotation

Please advise

2007 g35 Sedan Journey Performance package.

225/50R18 (front), 245/45R18 (rear) W-rated summer performance tires

my fronts are still great and a lot of traction but my rears are completely worn out and will probely ned to be replaced. WTF I have the stock BRidgestone tire. Do I have to replace all four or just the rear tires? Also what brand should i go with? Do I have to go with the dealer or can I go elsewhere? What did I pay for a year ago at purchase this Safeguard wheel tire protection do they buy my tire or am I just confused it cost me 400 at purchase.

Thank you

You mean tire replacement?

This thread has nothing to do with tire rotation.

No you don't have to replace all 4, just the rears.

Go with the same tire unless you're not happy with them. If you choose a different brand/model tire, then you *should* replace all 4, but it's not required.

You can go anywhere you want for tires, it's a free country (see next answer)

No idea about the 'Safeguard' thing, but if the dealer charged you for this, then it sounds like you should call them and ask if it covers worn-out tires. I doubt it very much though... just one set of tires would cost them at least $800 and they will have lost money... most dealerships aren't really into losing money.

I am not a fan of the OEM tires, I would recommend going to tire rack or discount tire and getting another type of tire.

A lot of people recommend the F1 by goodyear... (i think four will run you 800 ish) they have deeper treads and all season tires, so you will get better traction in the winter, and also you might even get more miles from them.

The OEM tires are a great tire IMO, but you're getting a true High-Performance Summer tire w/ outstanding grip and very fast treadwear. Most folks that get a G are surprized how fast these tires wear out, that's because it's most likely their first experience owning such a powerful car w/ such sticky tires. Most tires w/ treadwear ratings under 200 will wear as per the Potenzas, so if it's about finding tires that last longer look for treadwear ratings in the high 200s to mid 300s, just beware, you won't be able to rip the road like you do right now

I'm in the same boat, fronts have about 7/32 tread left and rears are at about 2/32, this is at 15K miles. I'm going with the Goodyear F1 they have a tread wear 420 versus the Potenza's 140. Hope I can get at least 30K out of the Goodyears, we'll see.

<Edit> Check out the Tirerack web site, looks like Firestone now has a 225/50/18R tire size in the Firehawk GT line, very interesting.
