Is It safe to Re Drill Wheels?

I was looking at getting the MRR GT1. A shop I went to said that the distributor said that they had some in stock but would have to re drill the wheels holes to fit the 5x114 bolt pattern. I think it would compromise the wheel structure but the shop said it was perfectly safe. Does anyone have any experience or knowledge on the subject? Thanks in advance.

fukc that, tell them to order the right bolt pattern. It is definitely not safe and should be avoided.

They make the wheel in the correct bolt pattern- have them get the correct fitting wheels.

Uhhhh noooo. Forget that places address, phone number, walk away and never look back. Find a reputable shop that will order the correct size like any other real shop should. Or just buy a set from a vendor on here.

you all are blowing this WAAAAAY out of proportion... I drilled my own wheels with my DeWalt 18volt hammer drill. As long as you are careful, drill slow, and use a top quality bit you will be fine. I drilled out my 04 Corvette wheels so I could blot them on my trailer. I have hauled that trailer to the track several times, Tail of the Dragon a few times, and never had an issue.

Well thats not the issue. Wheels can be drilled if need be. But many people run these wheels and we all know they come in the correct bolt pattern. The concern here is the laziness of the shop to just order them and not have to worry about drilling anything. If they are too lazy to order the wheels ide hate to see what other kind of work they do.
