Of course people are going to debate this... They have to justify the $200 mark up on the car they paid for at the dealership. Nitrogen in the tires is the new undercoating.

This article is great:

Best quote:
Oh, there are plenty of benefits: (1) Cool fluorescent green valve stem caps (assuming your nitrogen vendor has any marketing savvy), which will look sharp with your spinning wheel covers. (2) Bragging rights. OK, you were behind the curve with cell phones, iPods, thong underwear, etc. Nitrogen in tires is relatively new to the mass market. Now's your chance. (3) Reduced fire danger next time you land your space shuttle or commercial aircraft, and tell me you won't sleep better knowing that.
Just check your tire pressure regularly and you basically do the same thing.

Just so happens the car dealers use it. Some do, some don't. Im not saying they are right or wrong, but maybe you can blame them for misinformation !!
Research is always helpful.

gains are not great but they are there.

Maybe this is why some of the car dealers in Vegas use it. You never know. Blacktop here in summer has to hit 150-200 degrees !! I've lived in Vegas a long time, so Im not surprised by this addition....change is good
