Service Bulletin for Brake Squeak Noise
They did this TSB last week on my car, they told me they put new front updated pads and shims. They still make noice i think more noice then before when car cold lol but at least i got new pads after 18k on my car!!
I think it's more the brake design than anything on these cars that cause the squeeks. I've noticed that mine also sometimes make a "clunk" sound when the pads seat themselves against the rotos when I first brake when going in reverse. There just seems to be a lot of play in the floating caliper design on the front brakes on these cars.
Went to a dealer for the brakes and heated seat problem. They gave me a loaner and took them about 6 hours. Oh great. It took so long, they must've fixed the problem.
NOT. They only fixed the heated seat. They simply didn't "hear" any squeals from the brakes, so they didn't fix it.
Oh well.. this was my third trip for the brakes and failed again.. The first visit was made when my car had less than 4,000 miles. 2nd, I believe was around 10,000 miles and this time at 22,000 miles.
They can't hear the wind noise from my windows. (2 trips)
They can't hear the squeals from my brakes. (3 trips)
There must be old grannys working there whom cannot hear at all.
or I have a super natural power that I can hear that others can't.
I'm thinking of sticking my cell phone on the wheel with a ziptie and have it recorded the sound, so i can take it to them.

Lol I'm glad i helped you save your phone hahaha. because i actually took a video took it there while it was on my camera because i was scared they were gonna say i downloaded it, and the rep was like well yeah we'll have to replicated it or they can't do it, I'm guessing infiniti won't pay them for the work if they cant' prove it. Also like i said before it might be a build up of brake dust, I tried what the service rep told me and it works. Find an empty road that is rather long, get up to around 60 mph then just stand on your brakes, that would get rid of the brake dust that glazed on to the pads.
Quick update: I was able to persuade my local dealer to replace my front brakes at no cost this past weekend. I mentioned the TSB and laid on the guilt because they weren't totally sold on the idea of replacing the brakes initially. Glad I did because the squeaking is now ancient history and the brakes feel much more responsive. Hope this helps anyone on the fence about this topic.
I am having the same issue with my brakes the last week. REALLY noticed it when gong through a drive thru and as i genlty applies the brakes you can hear the grinding echoing off the wall.
When you try to reproduce, take the service guy to a long wall and roll the windows down. You can hear the calipers grinding the pads.
Thanks for the TSB...
G35 - is your dealer Miller? If so, how is the service department?

i took my car to the dealership with the bulletin, after checking, they said my brake pads are almost done and that's causing the noise, so they can't replace it under the service bulletin.
the service technician was nice and seemed honest, he installed the gt-spec FSB for me for free, so i didn't argue with him about the brakes.
