Alignment/Eibach drop question...

Getting my springs installed on Friday and immediately have to go out of town. Would it be a waste of money to get an alignment right after the drop before I go out of town? Or do I have to let the springs "settle" and then get an alignment? And if I have to wait for the alignment, will taking a 6 hour round trip on a newly lowered car ruin my practically new tires?

Usually, you let them settle, then get it aligned.

Ok, well how long do you let them "settle?"

On every car and "drop" i've had, i let the springs settle for about a week (roughly 300-500 miles of driving.) Unless you have extremely soft tires, 6 hours of driving won't do anything to it.

Eibach springs are pretty high quality. I've never had issues w/ sagging even after many years on all of my cars w/ Eibach springs. Personally, I don't think it's really necessary to wait for the springs to settle before doing the alignment.

But, waiting a week wouldn't hurt. Do what you're most comfortable with.

If I were you, get an alignment from a shop that has a 12 month period free of charge realignment service and that way you can get the alignment before you leave town, come back and see if the springs have settled and get another alignment for no additional cost. I dropped mine with the eibachs and got my alignment immediately afterwards because I too was worried about leaving for a trip out of town with fresh tires. I came back a few weeks later and only had minor adjustments to make. If all of this is too inconvenient for you, don't worry because your road trip is not going to destroy your tires and just get one as soon as you get back. Hope this helps make a decision. P.S your gonna love the springs!

2 weeks seems to be standard, however i have just dropped my G on eibachs this past monday. most of the settling seems to have occured, but in addition to excess negative camber all around, i have toe-in on my rear tires, with more toe-in on the passenger rear tire. ive been driving to work and keeping an eye on my worn out factory tires and they are being torn up pretty quickly. with my rear alignment issues, i have no rear end stability since the tires are toe'd-in. i have installed the spc rear camber arms at the same time as the springs, just so that all i have to do is get it aligned. i would like to wait the 2 weeks, but i think im going to end up getting it aligned this weekend. to the op: your mileage may vary of course, but let us know how it goes. sorry for the essay, lol.

I did the lifeteime alignment at Firestone dealer for roughly $100. Yes, they use Hunter equipment. Take it in immediately then as often as you like.

Thanks guys for all the input. Taking it in Friday for the springs and rear camber kit install. I'll take it to Firestone for immediately afterwards. The lifetime alignment deal sounds perfect.

First impressions! I was cheezin all the way home after picking up my G. Rear camber is not on, he wanted to wait until the day I take it in to get it aligned. So the rears are slightly tucked, it is soooo cool lookin!! I wish I could leave it like that but I know it is truly unrealistic! I love the drop, the comfy smooth ride is definitely a thing of the past. Its what you sacrifice when you lower it. Not jarring, but you feel more rocks on the road. I love it. My car loooks like its creeping going down the road. I had to have a friend drive off in it and turn around so I could see it coming. Straight hot! Dropped my Stillen roof spoiler off today at the bodyshop and will get it installed tomorrow! I'm so hype!

Alignment/Eibach drop question...-157.jpgThanks guys for all the input. Will take it in next week for the alignment and rear camber install. Eibach rocks!!!

Pics aren't that great because it was dark and it doesn't help that my car is black so you really can't see the drop but I couldn't help but post what I got.

I have lowered all my previous cars, Comptech Supercharged Acura TL-S on Comptech springs, Honda Civici on Neuspeed springs, Acura Integra GSR on Neuspeed. All, especially the TL ride quality was compromised but I didn't mind because I was going for performance over luxury ride quality anyway. Whats weird is I never recall getting an alignment or camber kits put on them LOL. Anyway, I can't give a full review on the cornering, ride, etc. because I haven't installed the cambers yet and the rears are noticeably tucked. So I'm really just pimpin it right now. Driving like a granny and smilin all the way. Getting on it would be pointless right now. Driving slow one thing I do notice for sure is the ride quality. If we rated the G on its stock springs in terms of comfort and gave it a 10, with the springs I would give it a 7.5. Not a huge difference but I notice the difference. Again, not jarring, but you can feel the road a lil more under you. Personally I love it. I can't wait to put new rear tires on, camber and get it aligned next Friday. Will give input on the handling afterwards. I soooo love the look though, just looks like its creepin! I don't know why I waited so long to do this!
