GT-Spec STB Omg!!! I need help asap in oc!!!

I got a bit of a problem and thought maybe somebody local can help me out.

I have a GTspec strut bar with some cross threaded screws on there that I need to cut off. I was trying to adjust the height on the bars and ended up cross threading the screws that connect to the brackets. I tried my best to unscrew it w/ hand tools but can't get it to budge. So my last resort is to cut off the screws. However, I do not have necessary tool such as an angle saw or any dremel, and sure don't want to purchase it just for this one task.

So I was wondering if anyone might have any tool that might handle a job like this. I really need to get this thing off asap so that I can put on the new screws I got from GTspec. My bars are kinda dangling around under my hood and the rattles are annoying the crap out of me.. I would REALLY appreciate if someone can help me get these damn screws off.

Thanks in advance!

-Jason

Go to a shop or ,get an easy out set at the hardware store, you'll need a drill and the right bit, if you dont have these quit now and go to a shop. Or put some heat to the bar to get it to expand a bit, then try backing off the screws.

If you stripped the threads you may need to tap some new ones in.....

G'luck

A shop tried to charge me 80 bucks for this job.. which should be a simple job if you have the right tool.
BTW are easy out sets pretty effective when removing stripped screws?? Do they just attach to any electric drill??

Damn I wanna fix this asap but very reluctant to pay 80 bucks for sucha simple task.

Yes, for the right situation, and yes. Go to a hardware store or auto parts store to show somebody what you are dealing with, and if they think the easy outs will work get them, or go by their advice. I cant tell if you stripped the threads and/or the head of the fastener, if you stripped any threads you may need new fasteners as well as possibly need to tap new threads.
