My 370Z spring drop

Well, for those of you following the "370Z Spring Experiment" thread, I've completed my install of 370Z springs in the front and shaved 5/8" off the rear spring mount. In my opinion the drop is perfect. For those of you looking for a mild drop with no loss of ride quality, this is the route to take. I'm 100% satisfied.

any handling/performance comments?

yarrh 08-06-2009 12:13 AM

i must admit this is the best drop i've seen. how much for a pair of springs?

popcornten 08-06-2009 12:48 AM

could you specify how you cut the spring mounts, or is there info on Ian's page and I'm just lazy?

DIY??

InTgr8r 08-06-2009 07:07 AM

^ there is a DIY in the 1st gen tech section.

It's VERY easy to do.

Thanks for the great comments everyone. I'm much happier with the wheel set-up now that I've dropped it a little. It's amazing how much difference a small drop can make. To see it in person, it's a whole new look, hard to see the true difference in pics.

Wes888: The wheels specs are: Rear 19X8-1/2 +30 Front 19X8 +33 (I think those #'s are right). Anyway, they are the coupe rims I'm sure you can find specs pretty easy. I'm using the factory spec tires 225/45 Front, 245/40 Back.
As for performance...the straight line ride feels identical to the factory ride. I'm sure there is a small difference but not enough to notice. I did notice that there's not quite as much body roll in the corners, probably just because the center of gravity is a little lower. The ride and stance is exactly what I would have expected Infiniti to deliver on a stock G35.

Yarrh: I picked up the springs for $200/pair because I have a friend who sells parts, but I called Nissan and they were about $248/pair.

Just had my 4 wheel alignment completed. The camber is just slightly out of factory spec. Not sure about the official #'s but they said it was very close, but they couldn't get it exactly back to factory. The steering seems much more responsive and crisp now that I've had the alignment completed...probably a mental thing but it works.
