Really? I always thought you could, although not in its strict sense.

Just got an answer. They basicually said they are not interchangeable and they are designed to handle the weight of the specific vehicles. Looks like you can't swap them out for the G37 Coupe springs

Wes_888 08-18-2009 01:37 PM

THanks for doing this Greekboy.

But why do I feel like.. they are saying this from a liability standpoint? But in reality, it can be done. Or am I just being stubborn? LOL

Greekboy115 08-18-2009 02:10 PM

My pleasure Wes  It does sound like a liability response but who knows. I think I will end up with the regular sedan springs just to be safe though.

Wes_888 08-18-2009 02:31 PM

Ya I hear you on that one. Im either going with Eibachs or IMPUL's.

I might go with IMPULS if my gf goes to japan this december. lol If not, Eibachs it is.

You're right ... most likely a liability issue. A few months ago, I asked about 2nd gen G35 sedan springs being used in the G37 sedan. I was told they will fit, but they would not recommend doing so because they were not tested for that application.

honestly, i called eibach myself once and they said: no way should I use regular sedan springs on my X, they just wouldn't work...that was obviously wrong.

i agree with you guys that it must be a liability issue.

I didn't know the weights of sedan to coupe were that close, this might be worth a shot.

only problem i forsee is this:

it drops the COUPE 1.2 and 0.8, from its stock ride height. How does the coupe's stock height relate to the sedan's? if the coupe's stock springs are even slightly lower than ours, that difference will be in addition to its posted drop.

It really comes down to this...who's willing to try and experiment this setup?:dunno:

If it helps any, here are the #'s from the FSM.

FRONT
Sedan
225/55/17
28.11"

225/50/18
28.19"

Coupe
225/50/18
28.03"

225/45/19
28.15"

REAR
Sedan
225/55/17
27.83

245/45/18
27.83

Coupe
225/50/18
27.64

245/40/19
27.76

Fronts are easy to compare, there's minimal difference, the rears will take a little legwork to factor in the different tire sizes.

Wes, you and I have talked quite a bit recently about the mild drops...specifically the use of 370Z springs. Since we have so many choices already available for mild drops(Impul, NF-210, 370Z springs) I'm curious what you're looking for. I'm assuming you want a mild drop but the performance of a stiffer spring. Are you thinking about getting rid of your eibachs?

Anyone capable to figure this all out? Cuz I know I cant. lol

btw, is there any benefit with physically comparing stock springs of G sedans vs stock springs of the coupe? To get a feel if the eibach coupe springs will work? At least length wise of the springs.

We got Ian, Eug and Johnny for stock springs (I think you guys kept them...right?). Then im sure I can find someone in Toronto with a coupe who still has their coupe springs.

Yes, thats exactly what I want. Im still on stock springs though.

Tanabe's give a really good mild drop. But im afraid to get the saggy bum look. I know 2Gornot2G figured it all out with the right part #. But Until someone else gets the same result as he did. I wont go for them.

4drsleeper 08-19-2009 10:40 AM

You shouldn't be worried about the Tanabe's sagging in the rear. I've done ton of research on this and I'm 99% positive the 2nd gen owners were buying the 1st gen springs before the 2nd gen springs hit the market.

Wes_888 08-19-2009 10:47 AM

Touche... your probably right. I looked at the tanabe website:

http://www.tanabe-usa.com/springs/sp...tions.asp?id=1

the drop is 1.4 all around. Listed price is $ 330 bucks.

Eibach drop is listed at F 1.4 and R 1.3. Ground clearance of 4 inches.

I think I gotta ask 2GorNot2G whats his ground clearance is like to fully compare.

EDIT: Oops!! I looked up DF210!! Not NF210!!!

Wow. I thought the drop was alot less. If someone was going to buy the Tenabe's, they may as well go for the Eibachs.

SORRY! I looked at the wrongs springs! this is the correct one.

NF210 Application Chart

F 1.0 R 1.3

Although 2GorNot2G's drop looks perfect.. what I dont understand is.. why is it 1.3 at the rear? Not even all around?

That's exactly why I didn't buy those springs. The front has more wheel gap than the rear, so why would they make the rear drop more? In my opinion they should drop F1.3 R1.0...even that would have been too much drop for my taste, but I'm also 38 years old for what it's worth.
