Wheel spacers

Well guys, after trying my 19" M45s wheel with Ichiba V2 15mm. spacer on my friends G37 coupe with Akebonas, I found out that there is only 1mm. space between wheel spokes and caliper, not so good.

What if I put like an addon to the 15mm. spacer a KICS 3mm. spacer??
Will there be any issues??? Is it not dangerous??

Having run all kinds of spacers and calipers on my S14 I never had any problems even when fitments were extremely tight. If the wheel rotates freely without rubbing then it should be fine - I would only be concerned if the wheels did not run true or if any aftermarket studs were not pulled through and seated properly.

As for the 3mm spacer, I see no problem with using it with the 15mm as long as you are sure there is enough thread depth left on the stud. Make sure both spacers are flush and there's no warping or a gap between them.

Saying that, I used to run two 25mm spacers on my old Mini with a stud extender - I would very much hesitate to recommend that kind of nonsense these days! It did corner like nothing else though and was perfect for tearing through the country lanes if Wales at night

So do you think if I have only 1mm. between caliper and wheel spokes it is ok?

Personally yes - take a look at some performance cars like Porsche and Ferrari and you'll see virtually no clearance on some setups.

Although it looks scary, if everything is bolted together as it should be and your wheels run true then there is no reason for them to come into contact. Theoretically, neither your wheel nor your caliper should flex to the point where there's contact.

Just to add to my experiences with my Mini, when I sold one at short notice I had to switch the wheels out for a set off a different car (a Metro) - but they rubbed the caliper and so I just took an angle grinder to the caliper. Job done! But again, maybe not something I'd recommend in hindsight lol
