I'm picking up an 07 X sedan on Friday (slate blue/stone, nav, premium pkg, can't wait!). Anyway its got worn tires so I'll need to replace them before fall. So my question is who's got experience with the non-OEM tires (i hear the Goodyear Eagle RS-A's are less than perfect).
My priorities are, in this order:
Performance
Comfort (ride, noise)
Price
I've had 3 sets of performance Sumitomos on my previous cars and been a big fan of them (they're dirt cheap as well). Tirerack has Sumitomo HTR A/S P01's for $93 a piece.

all stock, would prefer to roll the same tires year round.Originally Posted by dohturdima

I am using Eagle GTs on stock 17 year round and can't recommend them - they feel somewhat "disconnected", off center and become noisy after 10K miles. They were cheap but I guess you get what you pay for... much better than RS-As in wet weather and snow but the noise and off-center feel are the reason I will go with something else in the future. I generally use TireRack and if I was shopping now for A/S tire for the X now, would get 1) Pilot Sport A/S Plus (if price was no object, which it is), 2) Pirelli PZero (seems to have best reviews, do well in rain/slush/now and are relatively inexpensive at $129 per). Would steer clear of Kumho ECSTA due to very high load rating... I have no experience with Sumitomos and can't comment on them.

I was going to get the Pilot Sport A/S plus, but was talked into getting the Michelin Primacy MXV4. They did fantastic in the Colorado snow this winter and seem to be a nice smooth ride. I'd recommend them.
You guys all paid ~$160 for the pilot sport a/s?
i'm not sure if i should trust my experience and go with the sumitomo for under $400, or trust you're collective experience with the pilot sports for ~$650...

Most of the reviews for the pilot sport a/s plus talk about the tires getting really loud after 15 or 20 thousand miles. the one thing i love about my g35x is how quiet it is at highway speed, even on my bald rs-a's. i'd hate to spend $170 a tire and lose that.

Sport A/S are very good tires but IMO pretty overpriced. LightsOut posted another great choice in another thread that I think is one to consider: https://g35driver.com/forums/v36-bra...rt-wheels.html
i think i'm going to go with my gut (and wallet) and get the 225/55R17 Sumitomo HTR A/S P01
