G35/G37 sedan riding dumpted issues **long story**
Okay guys this what I'm dealing with...after installing my BC coilovers my car was sitting at a 3 inch drop. My friend (a mechanic) and I installed the coilovers and camber kit together after his primary duties were done at his job. We ran out of time to complete the alignment work so I left him the car and I got a ride home.
The next day my friend returned my car after the alignment job. He and I drove around the block to make sure everything was riding smooth when suddenly, my check engine light came on. I pulled over in a parking lot and did a walk around with the hood open. I could hear a slight sputter/airy sound but could not figure out what it was. I did not experience any performance issues but proceeded home to use my OBDII scanner. I later learned that the CEL was from problems with the right and left O2 sensors.
There was not much I could do at this point so I slept on it. That following morning I took it to another mechanic friend that was a lot closer to home and threw my car on the lift w/ my engine running. BAM! there it was by the 2 lower O2 bungs on the catalytic converters, it was damaged indentically with each Cat suffering a 1 inch crack near the welds. I was furious and asked my friend if he bottomed out while on the way to my house and he said no. With that being said it is unknown what caused the cracks near the welds to give. I've since then raised my car right under an inch and took it to the Infiniti Stealership.
Since there were no signs of scratch marks on the catalytic converters or its surroundings INFINITI warrantied my cats w/ no charge
and I'm back on track.
What I've noticed on the V36 sedans is that the lowest sitting components on the underbody is the Front Lower Control Arm, Catalytic Converters, Flex pipes near Cats, and the Resonators. Im curious to how the 350z/370z guys are riding dumpted and dealing with the issue of bottoming out.
NOTE: I AM NOT new to the driving a dropped car game. The reason why I was originally at a 3 inch drop is because that's my style and I've been rocking that since I began driving. The Infiniti/Nissan game is what I'm new to and never thought of the day I cannot ride dumpted
.
I do not have any new pix of my ride since the weather has been bad and I am not happy w/ my drop.

you know i was wondering the same thing when yesterday i dented my midframe thingy where my FI exhaust was hitting when i put it on. now i just took it off and was wanting to go lower but since the whole exhaust is lower than where it is supposed to be i cant go lower. anyway what do you think about the coils how are they holding up? oh and what spec wheels do you because i like the way they sit
The BC's are great! No issues *knock on wood
. I just need to install the rear extenders for the dampner control **** since it came in a week after my install (shipment error).
Wheel Specs are (F)19x8.5 +15 et and (R)19x10 +20 et.
You need the right tire size for a good stetch and poke look so I got you covered too. (F) 235/35/19 and (R) 245/35/19 it took a lot of research to get my set up on point.
My set up is good for a daily driver..I don't know how these other guys are riding with a super aggressive stretch on a DD if they are.

Have you noticed the factory tire setup in the front are taller than the rears? well I'm trying to understand the purpose of that. My car is set at a even drop from front and rear and I notice the front has a 1 1/2- 2 finger fender gap. Arghh!! It's so annoying! I just wanna dumpt it but I don't want to deal with costly damage.

Your front tires are slightly shorter than your rears, which is not out of the ordinary. You'll have to drop the front down a tad so that it will sit the same as the rear.
I'm lowered 3 3/8" up front and 3" out back and I have a pretty "even" looking drop (on 225/35/19 and 235/35/19 tires)
Pics of your drop? Not too many low and flush 2nd gen sedans, I'd be curious to see how it was sitting.

the low point on a 1st gen sedan is the same as the 2nd gen. To me it seems like to z guys can ride lower cause their exhaust and other component tuck up in the car more than we do.
The word "tuck" came into mind when I encountered my mishap. I had thoughts of chopping the stock piping and tucking it up higher for more clearance. It appears getting rid of the stock cats and using Berk High Flow cats will get rid of the bulkiness. It may work but call it desperate measures. I've never took the time to look at the Z's underbody but now I am curious on how the setup looks like.

My G is black also, and I was planning on getting these wheels. Now I know what they'll look like on my ride..
QUESTION..
does your VDC kick in for having a tire that is over 3%, since 245/35 is smaller than oem?
when I first read your offsets, I was thinking.. Humm he has replicas. I scroll down and see that you do have BBS replicas.

Aww..you caught me
yeah they are Chikara LS1 wheels very nice btw. Using the G35/37 coupe offsets on our sedan gives that aggressive fitment. I get a lot of compliments and head turners on the road.VDC works fine no issues. TPMS were simply swapped on the new wheels and did not require re-programming either.
I was talking to my mechaninc the other day, and he noticed that all Nissans under body sit low. Even his Altima scrapes and he's at stock height. I guess its from the reinforcment nissan adds to its underbody.
I just angle all my turns.
