Got something new

Thanks to Coz for all the help

Haven't had a chance to do some really hard/good braking, but so far these are my impressions

Pros:
The difference in pedal feel is great
Looks, obviously
Steering feeling is different, a little heavier, but imo it's better than the original "too light" steering feel. To me, the steering feels a little more "connected" than before. It's a little hard to describe, but I like it better this way.

Cons:
Weight, but see "steering feeling, 'pros' " above

Wanted to do painted calipers, but didn't want to go through the hassle. It's a little hard to tell from the pic, but the silver contrasts well behind the gunmetal rim.

No Mike, just oem for now. After I wear these out I'll do AM pads and rotors.

Thanks for all your help too bro!!

Btw, did you notice the change in the steering feel too?

That's sweet San, congrats. I need to get me a BBK soon too, the stock brakes look tiny behind my 20's.

Anytime

ditto here, as soon as these OEM's wear out i might hit the middle ground and try the R-spec pads.

I didn't feel any change in the steering feel, but did note a bit more dive -- which has since been addressed when the CO's went on

Hmmm, strange. I know I'm not imagining the steering feeling "heavier," but again I like it this way better so I'm not complaining

So far, the bias feels the same (no nose diving at all), so I would imagine it was the difference in your F and R rotors (RB's in front, right?). Did you ever get the rear rotor yet? Also, there aren't any new options out yet for 2 pc rotors for our car other than the RB's and DBA's, correct?

The 2pc may have something to do with the "lighter" feel. Who knows? I hardly noticed anything different with response post-BBK except for that more noticeable dive and what feels like a more forward brake bias.

Not sure yet about going with a 2pc on the rears, there's hardly anything to gain back there. I think RB is pricing the rears to be the same as the fronts which make it less tempting. Might as well save that dough for something that makes a nice "whoosh" sound.

Nice! I too am looking to pick up the Akebono's as I hit 60k miles. Break squiking again, and I figure I should bite the bullet and get the BBK set. Just not sure where to get them from. I also want to 2pc rotors if possible.

Ah, I forgot you did the 2pc right away. I would imagine if you did the regular solids up front first, then swapped, you'd experience what I'm feeling

Ya, the back is mainly for looks. Guess you have to weigh whether or not the price justifies the end result.

Missed this, sorry

No, a friend of a friend did it as a side job at his workplace. Although I did my last car's brake install, I hated bleeding the brakes.

This job is pure bolt on, except for the rear dust shields, so it's relatively easy. However, for the $100 I paid for install and brake fluid flush, I got a hell of a deal and that 3-4 hours of my own time saved is easily worth the Benjamin I paid

1 week update:

The brakes feel more "linear" now, as far as how they grab when stopping. The stock "S" brakes felt linear up to a point, then they just "grabbed.". That was something I really disliked with the stock setup.

Now, it feels linear, meaning they stop evenly, proportional to the amount of pedal pressure you apply. It takes a while to get used to the change, but IMO is a change for the postive.
