Strange tread wear

I experienced strange tread wear and just wanted to know if anyone has had the same experience. I have a '07 G35 Sedan w/ Perf. Tires (225/50/18 front, 245/45/18 rear) with Bridgestone Potenza RE050A. After about 15k miles, started noticing that the outer edges of tires wore much faster than the inner edges. That is the parts of the tire closest to the outside of wore much faster than the parts closer to the inside. This was true for all four tires. After 28k miles, the outer area tread measures 3/8" and the inner is at 6/8" for all four tires.

Since the wheels are staggered, no rotation was ever done. Regular alignments were done. Does anyone know why this happens?

what psi (measured when cold) do you maintain in your tires?

33 psi, as recommended by owner's manual.

to be honest I set mine to 38 (cold)

I know it reaches around 40 when hot but that's the safer for me with these roads

That's too low.mine also wore out on the edges at 33psi...set it to 38psi cold...then u won't have the tread wear problem... The dealer told me to keep it at 38 to not have any tread wear

38?? Are you getting weird tread wear in the center now? I keep mine at 34.5, and wear is pretty even.

EDIT:>> The tires are Mich Pilot Sport AS Plus. The fronts were just replaced at ~21k, which is a serious record for me. The Goodyear Asymmetrics lasted about 8...

Nope, everything is normal. Then again, I am using Goodyear Eagle GT that holds higher max pressure (51 psi max). I have taken it to several service places and all the tread is even across the board.

I think it's more than just an inflation issue. Well, the 33psi was the recommendation for the OEM Bridgestones. Would it make sense that 33psi would be optimal for those tires?

dunno man, you should be fine between 32 and 35psi. is this happening to both the front and rear tires? also, do you have your most recent alignment sheet?

My eagle RS-A's had the same tread wear when I bought the car used at 23k. In fact, the tires were done so quickly because of the tread wear on the edges. I brought it to many mechanics, and all of them told me that the psi was too low (mine were set at 32psi). I changed my tires and upped my psi to 36-38 and never experienced the treadwear issue again.

I thought at first it was an alignment issue, but after having an alignment check done, no issues were found. It has to be the tire pressure being too low. Don't follow the manufacturer's recommendations, they always underestimate the tire psi.

I had a Lexus ES350 and LS430 that were also experiencing the tire tread edges worn issue following the manufacturer's recommendation on psi (32psi each cold). Since then, my tire psi for all my cars are 36-38.
