G35X: BC Racing BR CO dampers any good? And other questions.
I have ordered the Hotchkis front and rear sway bars and install should be on Weds. And I'm working on finding some wheels and lowering. I started a thread here about a week ago asking for advice on ranking the upgrade options and in the end I decided I'd like to get it all done. It sense. But the lowering approach, products etc is bloody complicated!
When it comes to lowering I've got about three options.
1) Get the BC Racing BR coilovers. The main reason I would do this personally is if the dampers were of really good quality. Its not because I will be adjusting drop for tracking etc. And that I have to assume the springs and dampers are tuned to work together. And the install should be easier and less costly than springs (option 2). My question for this option is, are the dampers really good quality?
2) Replace OEM springs with the Eibach pro kit and stick with OEM dampers for now. And hope they last a while. And they work well together from a suspension synergy point of view. I like this option because it is very affordable. But if the dampers go at some time in the next year then I'll have to pay again for the mechanic to work on this part of my car and get some KYB GR2s.
3) Similar to option 2, but I'll also get and install the KYB GR2s. But this option starts to raise the cost closer to the CO's so I'm sure this makes sense at all.
I'm torn btwn 1 and 2.
And my final question is related to alignment products. This is be a moderate lowering and I'll have 19x8.5 wheels on for the summer. I'll drop the same amount in either case. The amount that the pk's do. What sort of odds am I looking at that I'll need some after market alignment parts? If the odds are likely, then is there a sort of min recommend part list that you'd suggest I get to keep the cost down? The full kit of front and rear camber correction arms are $600.

I don't know how great of a quality dampers are, but I like my BC BR, the way they ride. No problems here for over a year now, and I know lots of G owners went with BC BR and happy with them. I will say one thing. The rear is a bit stiff, bounces on bumps. The front is perfect. Over all the set up im running on these is very close to stock sport suspension ride feel.
