Check rear rotor run-off with dial gauge

Hi,
I need to check the rear rotor run-off with a dial gauge

Since our cars are RWD, spinning the rotor with hand would be quite a tough job.

How would you suggest spinning them so you can take the measurements?

Thanks,
FFLIP

Or let me re-phrase the question:

Would it be hard to spin the rotor by hand if both rears are in the air and car in Parking?
Would Parking vs neutral make a difference ?

On my other 06 sedan, turning them by hand when car was on parking with both wheels suspended was next to impossible.

Thanks friends,

FFLIP

IF you DON'T have LSD, then it will turn fine. If you do, you must jack both wheels off the ground.

Thanks for your reply.

I do have LSD (is an automatic '06 sedan, RWD)

The problem is that with both sides jacked up, with the transmission in park and foot brake disengaged, the rotors rotate _very_ hard by hand on my '06 one

The rear diff oil was changed at 60k - car now has 85k so I don't believe differential is staying in the way.

I should have tried with transmission in neutral - will that make a difference you think?

thanks,
FFLIP

in park, that's correct, must be in neutral
