I need new shocks...but would worn ones cause this?

Car losing traction at slow speeds making sharp turns. Say out of a parking lot taking sharp right. Even if i give it light gas the slip light will come on.

My stock shocks have 92K on them so those are shot and you can feel every imperfection on the road and it takes bumps like a tank now..but is this a sign of them being bad as well?

Are the KYB shocks ok if i replace them ( looking to sell car soon but if can't i will just replace them and keep the car another year)

^ what he said check your tires out. Shocks shouldn't make your tires lose traction.

tires are eh....i know i need an alignment. And it's only been 16K since my last one and my car already pulls....or has for months.

I was just wondering if the shocks weren't keeping my tires grounded like they should becasue the car "hops" over bumps now if that makes any sense

Ya your shocks could be bad. also check your tires. if it has been pulling for months then the tires could be bald, which will in turn cause bad traction.

With that kinda mileage, your shocks were gone long ago! KYBs are a good replacement, check our Marketplace under vendor suspensions for the best price. Slip light coming on has nothing to do with shocks, more about tires and alignment. Check out wwwthetirerack.com for tires at wholesale prices, I believe they sell KYBs too. Tires and alignment along with shocks you won't have any more drive ability issues!

The KYB shocks/struts are good.

Get those and the Achilles atr sport tires off eBay if you wanna keep it cheap but greatly improve ride quality. Probably be just under $1000 with alignment if you do the shocks yerself. Not gonna get much cheaper than that unless you go with used tires. (Just talking expense cuz you said yer selling it anyway.)

They say 50,000 miles, but that's the shock companies saying that so take that for what its worth. Haha

Mine were at 80k when I changed em, but they were leaking, so I dunno when exactly they blew. Coulda been 50 coulda been 78. They still performed ok, but its not good to let any part get too worn out.

Well, wait, what year is it? We can't just go off mileage cuz our cars are getting older. If its an 07 you should be good. If its an 03, its still had 3495lbs sitting on them for 11 years, so they're probably ready.

Just changed my struts and shocks two weeks ago with kyb. My car is a 2007 G35x sedan with 84000 miles.

All my original struts and shocks were good, and there was no leakage. I wished I didn't spend money to change them. (Around $500 including labor.)

I live in the Northeast, so my car sees plenty of potholes, big and small. I even accidentally drove over a curb at 10-15 mph a couple years ago. Miraculously, there was no damage at all. My tires didn't bubble, no rim damage, and nothing bent and alignment was good.

Why do you wish you didn't spend the money on changing them? $500 is an insanely incredible price. That's like a "Wtf?!" Price. You may not have needed them right that second but you shortly would have. You did the right thing.

I used to think shocks/struts were good to about 60k or so. However, my brother ran his 03 G35 to 160k on original shocks/struts. I was shocked but when riding in his car, the ride quality was still good. Unless your shocks/struts are blown, it is possible to go longer than 100,000.

To the OP's question about slip light, I don't think shocks would affect slip much--especially at slower speeds. You don't see a wheel bounce around wildly with a blown shock unless you are on the highway.
