OEM Rear Coil Replacement
OEM Rear Coil Replacement
I'm doing some suspension work and I'm looking for a source (or suitable substitute) for the OEM rear coils. I want to keep the stock size, as I'm planning to cut the upper seat to lower the rear a bit. I know I can likely find them at a junkyard, but I'd prefer completely new springs. Up front I'll have new struts with the front coils off my buddy's 370z (first thing he did after buying it new was suspension work, so I know they have super low miles on them).
Check the set you have for what colored dot code it has. Then buy a set of those same OEM used springs off eBay, that will be your cheapest option.
You probably need to take a rag and some brake cleaner to wipe down the coils to find the dots, you probably have 2red 1blue. If you've never looked for Nissan spring dots they are VERY LARGE and easy to find but quickly get covered in road grime thus the rag and brakekleen.
Also, you don't actually modify the SPRING, you cut down the rubber perch at the top of the spring which is a completely separate part that looks like this.
