I took it to the dealership to have them inspect the engine and see what is causing this ticking noise that comes and goes for no reason at all. Thankfully the sound happened when they inspected it and after a few days they tell me it's a bad belt tensioner. They are in the middle of fixing it now - probably a one a two day job. Thank god it wasn't anything more serious.

 

Let us know if that fixes it, I think I have the same ticking noise as well.

They were wrong about the belt tensioner.
It was actually a bad bearing in the alternator.
It has been changed and I'm picking it up tonight!
