No offense to K&N, im sure someone will eventually buy and try these out, but they offer nothing new and judging by their heatshieds i can think of a few intakes already in the market that will perform better than these, but of course these are just MY opinions....

K&N is confirming fit and power on my 08 G35 on the 3rd. I'll take pictures and let you know. I do know however from past experience with them using my vehicles for prototypes that they do not release an intake unless it makes power over stock. There are several vehicles that they just couldn't improve upon that they do not produce an intake for as a result. That says something about the company to me. They could just make and sell the intake to some sucker who would buy it and make no power, but they don't.

I never said that they wont produce any gains, i said that according to ME there are better intakes in the market already, that does not in any way attack K&N considering most companies use their filters anyways, i was just refering to their heatshield design...

I completely understand, I was speaking more towards Sacto. I've just dealt with other companies in the past who will sell a product regardless of results just to make a buck, and was impressed when talking with the guys at K&N when they were prototyping on my 04 5.3V8 Trailblazer.

As promised, I said i'd post an update.

Went to K&N this morning and met Dave who installed their intake and checked both fitment and fuel trim information via a scan tool on my car. He said that the a/f readings were just fine and it bolted up exactly the same as on the 2007's.

I also asked while I was there why the dyno run they did that is posted on their website was done in 2nd gear. He said that it could be a couple different reasons. Either it was an automatic that only had L-2-D-N-R-P, or that they usually run in more than 2 or 3 gears, so if 2nd made 8hp, 3rd made 9 hp, and 4th made 10hp, they split the difference and post the 9hp run. Also, on our cars, since they want as wide of a range on the run as possible, from as low an RPM to close to redline, if they were to run in 1:1 ratio 5th gear in our cars, it would make for a very very long dyno pull coming from say 2500-3000rpm all the way up to 8000 rpm.

My impressions of the intake:
Fit and finish is top notch, they use good quality materials including the silicone hose sections that connect the piping to the filter velocity cone (which isn't aluminum, but a composite I learned which is lighter than aluminum).
At part throttle and cruising, the intake is no louder than the factory intake, however under heavy acceleration and WOT, the car definitely growls and sounds FANTASTIC!

Also, if i'm not mistaken, the girl in this promotional video was working at the front desk which wasn't bad either.

Unfortunately I can't do vid for sound right now due to it being 9pm and the car is neatly tucked away in the garage for the night, but I did walk out and snap a couple pics for you.

Another thing they do is on the mounting blocks for the sensors, they mill them from a billet block then weld them in so the interior of the tube doesn't have any protrusions.

If we have a local GTG i'd be more than happy to go for a ride however.

I'll start out with a gratuitous glamour shot I took this morning after spending 10.5 hours yesterday detailing it (didn't finish, but my Wife was getting upset I was spending too much time with the car. ) No more swirls from the dealership monkeys washing it.

Hah, thanks, but I havn't detailed the engine in 3 weeks, i'm waiting for an order of 303 protectant to arrive from Detailed Image since I havn't been able to find it locally. Then i'll be able to get that chalky look off the hoses.

I love that the intake isn't loud while cruising. This is a 40k car, not a 95 Civic HB, I don't want rice. Also, as is shown on the dyno chart, the intake makes power across the entire powerband, not just at peak which I prefer. Lastly, when it comes time to clean the filters, I don't have to tear half of the car apart to get to them, much more convenient than the long tube setups out there.
