Painting aftermarket muffler

I just got myself an FI exhaust system, and I am interested in painting the polished look of the muffler to something similar as the coating of the OEM muffler. I don't want the muffler to stand out that much, because of police and/or the look of a dirty polished muffler which I'm not interested in washing everytime I wash the car. Does anyone know a specific product that will help me bond the surface of the muffler with the coating and that doesn't peel away due to heat???

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
