2008 Gx Missing beat - Engine Timing off

Today being 9 below, back from work after driving my car for about 11 minutes, stopped at a light, engine was totally off beat and vibrating. after about 3 minutes of driving Service Engine Light came up. I am guess something went wrong with engine timing. Will take it dealer in the morning. Also I have recall note from the company and a oil change due just in time.

I have only 7400 miles on my car, wonder what could be wrong.

I have also noticed my Nav and controls going blank for few minutes after parked in open parking, happened 3 times in last year.

Could be something as simple as crap gas.
Being that cold, it's possible to get a little bit of condensation in the fuel and then everything gets thrown all out of whack.
A bottle of dry-gas may be a simple solution.

Of course, it could be something different all together too.
Good luck.

AV you think it can be the gas? i usually get mobile from the same couple gas stations..

Maybe your engine is just cold? when i start my car dead cold, it's rough but once it warms up it's fine.

it wiierd, even with the car warmed up letting it get to normal temp.. it will ide fine once i put it into gear D or R it starts making that noise then i drive it for 20-50 ft and it stops.

and this only happens when the car is cold and when i start it up first time.. after turning it off and starting it up again it wont do it.

Gas was from BP and I filled 2 days earlier this happened, and everything was okay when I started the car and warmed for 2-3 minutes before driving, and was still okay for 3 miles of driving, then all of a sudden vibration started. Anyways my car is in service now, still waiting on dealer to tell me what happened and when this would be ready for pickup. Was given a loaner after 3 hours of waiting in the showroom, not really happy about the attitude the service guys have.

I'm also curious with what you find.

My money remains on crap gas.

No news yet, apparently Infiniti technicians are involved in the diagnosis w/dealer service guys. I talked to the service guy about the gas and he does not believe that gas is causing this. They had the software reset but looks like the problem popped back up in less than a mile in the test drive. My car is going to rest at the dealer down the weekend and don’t know when I will get my babe back.

I'm with Aesonvirus. Think it's the gas.

so you guys think that theres water in the tank making it a harsh idle??

becasue my main concern it sounds like the cranks are loose, aka my UR pulley doing it...then again the op is having pretty much the same issue. and i know if i take it to the dealer their going to find it somehow my fault and non warranty it.

i found out it only does that at from like 1k to 1.1k rpms and its 0-10 degrees here. i did fill up at a different station last week so it making a little bit of sense.

There's simply no way the crankshaft mains would "come loose". Those are computer installed and checked during production--it just doesn't loosen by accident! Unfortunately, your UR pulley is a non-OEM item and your dealer could indeed refuse warranty work. Hopefully, they'll find something else is the cause.

..oh ok my thought was that the pulley bolt wasnt tightnend enough or something.

becasue thats what it kind of sounds like a rattle thats someonething loose or moving around, or maybe like its hitting something. no clue my first imprssion would be the pulley so im just really confused wtf this is.

Not sure if this will be a pulley problem, neither a timing issue.

Question is if this is because of the Gas, why does "Service Engine immediately" light starts to flash? and why does it happen after couple days of filling Gas.
I have filled Gas in this station many times, but funny thing I noticed today this Gas station is 10 cents cheaper that the shell down the road. They are usually the same price . I will wait till tomorrow to find out what comes out. Also I did ask the service if gas will be a problem and he ruled that out.
