I've seen recently on this forum that there isnt a superior intake and that they all might give slight boosts in hp and torque but nothing significant. I was wondering which intake out of the Stillen gen3, the K&N intake, and R2C intake sounds the best. I havent really heard much about the R2C intake either so if anyone has any release dates or dyno numbers i would love to know those too. Im still pretty new to modding my car so if anyone has any other good sounding intake let me know =D.

 

To me, they all sound about the same. Some are louder than others owing to pipe length or whether the filter has a cover.

 

My GUESS would be stillen 3G considering the length of the tubes

 

If you want something very quiet and close to stock, go with a long tube intake (i.e. 2g or3g Stillen or Injen)... These will also give you the highest peak HP gains, but you may lose some power in the mid-range. Me, I am VERY happy with my K&N (gained about 5 - 6 HP throughout most of the RPM range) and love the loud sucking sounds it makes when I step on it, although it is barely louder than stock when cruising.

I posted my K&N dyno chart in another thread on here a while back.

 

my pop charger/z-tube combo sounded pretty aggressive when i had my stock exhaust on.

 

I have Injens they are pretty darn loud, especially after 3,800rpm.
I didnt really gain much though. It's good top end but not so great low end.

If you want power go either K&N or stillen 3G. They are both great intakes and will give you power. K&N is a lot easier to install too lol

As much as i love my injens and how they look and sound, they arent doing much for power. I would've had 315+whp if i kept my stock intakes.
So you actually lose power.

I say go K&N all the way.

Any dyno sheets prove that any intakes for the HR make any power?

 

They're kickin around, yeah, but it's all on the high RPM side.
Nothing to cause me to run out and drop $500-, since the appeal seems to be for sound and shiny pipes and not performance.

 

I posted mine in another thread here... made power through out the entire range 4 - 6 HP gain on average, with 5 HP gain at peak with the K&N. KulG35 also posted his dyno chart for his K&N... he had better gains that I did.

 

I love the look of the Stillen Gen 3, but the cost and install make me say ... for now anyway.

 

Yeah, the install was what changed my mind.... there no way I'm cutting into my baby. LOL

 

I think the Stillen 3G has better midrange gains than K&N. from 2G's dyno, most of the gains are 5k rpm and up. 3G shows gains well before that but nuls out at 6k and then explodes at 6.5k and up.

If you don't take off the bumper cover, the difficulty for the 3G install is just the time spent wrangling the pipe for the best fitment possible. The cutting is not the hard part--literally took me 5 minutes.

Most of the sound of the 3G is outside. There is very little added noise inside the cabin--probably owing to it's extreme forward location. I personally think that is a good thing.

 

So has anyone heard anything about the R2C intakes? And thanks for the great responses guys.
