G35 is tapping like a ****

My G35 has been tapping lately. I have no idea what the culprit is; it's only got 13K miles on it, and oil levels are fine. It happens when the engine is both cold and warm. Originally I thought it could be the valves for some God-forsaken reason or it could be that the Royal Purple was too slick. But now I have no idea wth it could be. So.... any ideas?

91. It doesn't sound like it's knocking, more like a tap, kind of like when older engines start tapping their rods in the cylinders.

Does the tapping sound come from dash area when engine is on?

BTW, all these info can be found under 07+ sedan FAQs (stickied).

No, it sounded like it was coming from the cylinder(s) closest to the nose of the car on the passenger side. I just started noticing it a few days ago. I thought that maybe the bearings were starting to go, but it's way way way too early for that... I'll see if I can take a video tomorrow.

I had a similar problem about year ago, turned out to be the clutch on the A/C compressor. It was fully covered under warranty. Good Luck

if you have a manual (6mt), it could be your release (or throw out) bearing.

otherwise, link said it good, bring it to the dealer.

Another weird problem just arose: when the car is in the "on" position without the engine running there is a really high pitched noise coming from the engine bay. I have no idea where it's coming from.

Dealer, here I come!
