Driver-Side Auto-Up Window Failure

The Auto-Up feature of the driver side window has been failing after a month of owning the car. I took it to Riverside Infiniti as my last source for repair attempt, as two other dealerships have already had 11 combined attempts to repair the problem. Riverside is going to keep my car for the rest of the week. Can you guys comment with what you would do if you were in my shoes?

Doesn't really seem like it would be that difficult of a fix...guess there's something more technically advanced then just a new relay or module. Car's have become so computerized that it can often be very difficult to fix problems like this...something that could have been fixed in 30 minutes just a few years ago.

I forget the method to reset this but I thought it was something to do with taking it to the extremes and holding the button up for x number of seconds.

According to the manual if you properly perform the reset then you should take it into the dealer.

Did you perform the reset exactly according to the manual?

I'm assuming that the dealer tried the "reset" several times during the 11 visits. Then again, that's just an assumption.

4drsleeper the dealer did perform the "reset" during the 11 visits in addition to replace every part in the door relating to the power window function.

11 visits? Did you get all the documentation with all the attempt? When you pick the car up it workds and it fails after few days or they try to fix it and it still doesn't work? If that's the case don't pick it up. Tell them you need the car when it fixed. Till enjoy the loaner.

11 visits may make it a lemon. Personally it sounds like a different dealer is needed or the reset should be tried at home. It is in the owners manual.

I do believe the lemon law states it must be a "sigificant" part of the car, which the power window one touch is not.

Have they replaced the drivers side switch?
the bcm?
the motor?
the regulator?

I would think they would start with things in the door and then hopefully work their way to the BCM. My two biggest suspects would be the BCM and the motor itself. I believe the motor has the encoder that provides the "anti pinch" feature required for the one touch to work and the BCM controls the windows based on the feedback from the encoder.

Depends on the state when it comes to lemon laws. There are different conditions based on safety, performance, and operation present in different lemon laws. You mentioned the anti-pinch which would in many states trigger the safety part of it. It would be interesting if this ends up associated with the auto-up based on the method to detect an object in its path. I did run into a statement by Infiniti that the anti-pinch feature may not operate properly in the nearly closed position.

The reset procedure states to open the window more than half way, then roll up and hold for greater than three seconds. Not sure on the encoder. I wonder if they simply are not doing the procedure correctly such as not rolling it down far enough or trying to do the reset in the fully down position instead of the fully up.
