Yes there were many who tried you can search and find all those reviews. I believe the bottomline was that people felt the gain on butt dyno but real world dyno actually proved some loss over stock.

I own and use one... feel free to PM me if you wish.
Kool's answer above is pretty accurate.
Personally, I'm still not buying the results from previous dynos. Maybe I'm just a stubborn old fart.
We need to take a car like mine that has had the BD installed and running very strong for some time now and dyno it. We need to then pull the BD program and dyno the car on it's back to stock platform.
Until someone does this test, I'm not buying the results. You can't pull in stock, or with the BD just applied and expect accurate results.

I still haven't dyno'd my setup but I have plans for the spring, so I may be able to do a Bullydog to Stock to UpRev comparo... if things work out.

I ran the dyno comparison that AV describes above - max tune and timing advance with the BD, then less timing advance, then completely stock. Stock had more power (although all were within a couple HP), and the BD tunes lost power.

I'm still running the BD without a tune though, because it allows you to advance the timing (which should increase stock HP), eliminate the speed limiter, etc.
