Dyno - Stillen Gen 3 Intake / BERK HFCs / COBB Tune
Hello All,
I just got my car back from the guys Atlantic Motorsports in Maryland. They had the car for a day to do the following installs.
Car: 2008 G35S AT
1. Base Line Dyno
2. Installed Stillen Gen 3 Intake
3. Installed BERK HFCs
4. COBB AccessPort
5. Custom tune w/ COBB AccessTuner Race Software
I also had them install Tanabe NF210 springs and the OEM Sport Chin Spoiler, but those are pics for another thread (once it warms up and I can put the summer wheels back on).
I dealt with Cory at Atlantic Motorsports who was fantastic. Quick to answer questions and I feel the shop did a excellent professional job with the car. They spent about 4 - 4 1/2 hrs working on the tune.
Dyno Results:
Before: 274.7HP @ 7000 RPM | 224.9ft-lb
After: 292.1HP @ 6500 RPM | 260.7ft-lb
Increase 17.4HP | 35.8ft-lb
Now, the increased HP is pretty good, but I was rather shocked to see the large increase in torque. Now, I'm not sure what that equates to at the crank, so if someone can do that calculation it would be nice.
I have two dynos. One with the car stock and one after all the work. Sorry if you wanted to see one after each install but didn't want to pay the extra for that.

Dyno w/ Mods and Custom Tune "final"

Noise
Now, I drove the car for about 2 hrs in some back roads and on the highway. I am extremely happy. Personally I don't detect any drone at highway speeds 2800-2900RPM @ 70ish. But the car certainly comes alive under moderate to heavy acceleration. The only thing that people might not like is under heavy acceleration the "whoosh" noise that you hear many times in a stock car during shifting etc is much more pronounce which I assume is from the HFCs. That said, the car's volume has retained, to me, the luxury but added more "sport" at the same time.
At some point I'll try and get some sound clips of the cabin and exhaust note and post those.
If you have any questions let me know.

Wow almost 300whp with those mods. Nice! How much did they charge you for the dyno tune? Also did you buy and take your own cobb tuner or did u buy it from them? Also are your AFR in check after this tune?
Your car did 274.7 RWHP stock on that dyno? If so, that's a bit of a high reading.
Also, your torque reading on the graph is a bit strange. On the first run, your tq was about 100 RWTQ@3k rpm, while on the second graph it's about 225 at the same rpm.

Yea not really sure what to tell you. I guess the "every dyno" is different saying fits. I did add one more dyno pic to the OP (Dyno Mid) they gave me. This was after all the bolt on and I think an initial tune.

The 34.8 tq gain is still a bit strange though
I think the first dyno is actually a wash. If you look at the times there is a 6min or so between the first and 2nd dyno pic. Then about 8 or so hours between the 2nd and 3rd. My guess is that they actually meant to throw the first one away (which is why it was crumpled) and there was miscomunication between when the graphs were produced and when they were given to me the following day. That would make the deltas about 7ish HP / 13TQ with a change in the AF and peak power points / powerband.
I didn't get a chance to talk to the tuner, so I may try and give them an email / call this week to ask a few questions.
Screwy dynos
