Constructing a CAI.

Updated with Pictures 9-6-2010:

I am making a cai this Saturday. Honestly, I just can't stomach $500 for a gen 3 sooo....

I bought a cheap ebay short ram for $150 and bought a 2.75 intercooler piping kit to make the extensions.

Question: has anyone with a Gen 3 set up had any filter damage from rocks reaching the filters through the grill, or does the shield take care of that?

I make have the filter set behind the metal bumper for protection. Input?

Pictures later.

I have had my gen 3 instake installed for a while now. Probably about 1.5 yrs or so IIRC. I already cleaned my filter once and it still looks good as new. It's protected by the grill + the plastic guard that is placed infront of the filters which pretty effective in protecting my filters from road debris/water.

Very interesting mission, would be pretty legit if you can get this done under $300.

I finished on Sunday morning. I had to run to Home Depot for the metal to make the brackets. I cut up a RSX battery cover to make the water shields over the filters.

Impresssions: The car feels quicker. It is actually quieter than the short ram, but the sound it makes is more pleasing to me.

Great job. I would just extend the shields up a little bit.
