Manual Trans Reverse Lock Out

I haven't seen this issue covered elsewhere -
I have a 2007 G35s Sedan with the manual trans. Just got it ~1 month ago.
The reverse lock-out seems to be misadjusted - you can go right into reverse without pushing down on the shift lever. Also, when shifting into 5th, you can miss 5th and get stuck in the upper-left corner of the shift pattern.

It's almost as if the reverse lockout is off by a 1/2 inch or so.

Planning to take it into the dealer while it's still under warranty.

Anyone else had this problem?

Thanks!

also sounds expensive at the dealer.

Sounds like a serious problem to me, i have no such issues at all.

Since you got it used it is possible that the last owner either installed a short shifter and then went back to oem for sale and in the process damaged the shaft, or maybe it was more serious where the tranny had to be replaced under warranty considering a few threads i have seen.

Obviously these are all guesses and the best way to find out is to take it to the dealer under warranty and have them check the cars background and tranny.
