Noob exhaust question

On a stock G, why is it not considered a true dual, is it because of the Y? If so, does replacing it with an X make it a true dual? Or, do cats also need to be replaced with HFC's to get to that point?

On the matter of X-pipes, what does it do other than making the exhaust more audible? More power, i presume?

Thanks.

Unless you are a purist, it is a true dual exhaust. Whether it's a Y/X/H crossover tube linking the two sides, doesn't matter.

Thanks. Would you say that swapping out our "restrictive" y with an x-pipe will yield some gains? (audible and whp).
