The HR has hydraulic lifters, or at least according to the FSM.

 

My delaership uses a mixed blend... they showed me the drums... synthetic is ok but even they told me that its not necessary. I was told to use whatever my heart desires, but the ultimate question is how long you're expecting to get performance out of your oil on a racetrack? If youre the avg joe buy what you want. If you're running you're car hard all the time racing against other G's in Kent WA, better have more than a good oil ;.)

 

I'm wondering if the service rep that spoke to the OP was thinking of the VHR engine and the ester oil issue. I have heard service reps comment that dino or ester are better for those engines than synthetics.
