I wounder if anyone has put a taller 6th gear in their G35? At 80 MPH I'm pulling about 3.5 K RPMs. I would like to get below 2.5 K or so at that speed. Is it possible and what are the details I need to know?

 

Hmm..I think you should be running about 2900(-/+) at 80. Mine runs 3k at 82mph by, granted it's an 04 6mt, I can't imagine the 05 is much different.

You would need a fairly tall final drive to achieve 2.5k at 80. I don't think you'd be satisfied with the 6th gear pull at that point tho. I think the 3.3 gears from the sedan is the lowest you should go.

 

Perhaps it's closer to 3.3K RPMs then 3.5K, not too much resolution on that tach. Anyways, its a lot of buzzing on long trips while doing 80 MPH. Is a taller rear Diff a possible solution?
