Sirius Install & Reception Questions

I am thinking about adding Sirius radio to my G (using the OEM kit from g35parts.com). My only concern is about the reception. Will I be able to get good reception if I just place the antenna inside (near the Bose speakers) or possibly on the windshield?

I didn't want to place the antenna on the trunk and I wasn't sure how complicated the roof install would be. Any opinions? Is it worth it to put the antenna on the roof? Does anyone have pictures of the roof install?

Also, have any of you guys attempted to install the OEM fin antenna? I wasn't sure if this was possible.

Thanks in advance.

i am planning on installing the mini antenna on the dash, right in the center where the dash meets the windshield, quite subtle. i'd do the rear deck but i have aluminized dark tint, think it will mess up reception. i really dislike the fin oem look.

installed my xm micro antenna on rear window at bottom/center with just enough room for trunk lid to miss antenna. blends in very good with dark tintend window. used good 3m double sided tape.

I bought the OEM antenna, tuner and weather strip moulding from my Infiniti dealer. The same dealer wanted $500 for installation citing how difficult it is. I declined and went to local Circuit City, where I got all 3 installed for $115. The antenna will midline over rear window and looks great. The reception is flawless. I can use my radio button to show the channels and all the channel info appears on the screen. I believe OEM parts could be had for cheaper than dealer's pr ces when you buy online - but make sure to get OEM! My wheels: 2007 G35x, no options, just pure fun. Next up - installation of autodimming mirror and backup camera, both aftermarket.
