4080 & Amp install...

I just ordered the 4080 enclosure for my 2007 g35 sedan. Where is everyone putting their amps? I would like to keep the spare since i travel for work alot. i would like to find a nice hidden out of the way type of place. in the wheel well with the tire...under the rear deck with all the bose stuff?

Any ideas? Pics?

Thanks!

There is a 4080 box for our 07 Sedan?!?!? Do you have a link??

I have a conventional trapazoid box and did put the amp on the back of the box... (top did not work out as it was keep "rolling" around the trunk)

If you're putting the 4080 box (a very clean looking solution), I'd say you'd have to put the amp where the spare tire is... I have removed all the panels in the trunk while I was installing my sub/amp, but I couldn't finda any other place that would fit my amp... (my amp is huge, it's an old Alpine MRD-M1000). I'm not sure what how big your amp is, but if it is pretty small than an amp board hidden in the wheel well should also do the trick since you probably don't want to put your amp too far apart from the sub, and it'd be hard to find a nice "ground" spot if you put the amp where the current bose stuffs are.

well...i found a spot for my amp. let me know if you guys can think of any reason i shouldn't put it there.

basically...if you look at the pictures. on the left side of the trunk, behind the trunk liner there is a big opening. i took a piece of MDF and cut it to fit in the opening. i screwed my amp onto one side of the MDF & my line driver onto the other side. then i used the holes in the piece of metel in there to attach the MDF board with my amp & line driver. there is still enough space there for more components if necessary (LOC, etc.). the best part is when i put the trunk liner back in, you can't see a thing!! now all i need to do is slide in a 4080 enclosure & i am done!!! waiting on 4080 to make these for the 2007 is going to kill me!!!! Ohh...as it turns out, the holes i used to attach the MDF are the holes used by the trunk liner snap things. no problem though...the bolts poked through & i was able to put another nut on them to hold the liner in place. (i painted the nuts black so you don't notice them).

Let me know what you think.

and more!!!

and yes...i could have painted the MDF or done alot of things...but it is hidden!

one thought i had was to put the amp on the other side & cut the trunk liner and let the amp poke through. but i figured that may get in the way of the 4080...if it is even on that side.

Stanfna, that is an excellent location for your amp & loc... I might relocate my amp there. I will keep my loc in it's spot(mounted next to factory amp.

Nice! But as CoppellStereo said, will there be over heat issue with that spot? My guess is no, but since you're putting in in there, I'm sure you know better than I do...

So what amp is that and which sub are you putting in?

it just seems with the amp against the car and a board on the other side that it is more likely to overheat and shut off, or if it doesn't have protect mode it might fry your amp. anytime i have had an amp in an enclosed area like that i had a ventilation fan to help dissipate the heat

a fan may be a good idea.

The amp is an old Memphis Studio Class D. right now i just have a ported box with an old JL sub. but as soon as 4080 gets the enclosures made for the 2007, i will be putting in the 4080 with a JL 10W3v3.

Here is where we put the remote **** for the amp....

we used the blank button in-between the buttons for the seat warmers.
