Does anybody know why there is no mirror compass on the premium/sport/nav G-35 sedan? It is not a big deal but I sure like having it to glance at when someone tells you to go EAST on......... etc

 

are you talking about the '08s?
because the '07s have compass on the mirror in the premium/nav combination. At least mine does .

Some don't like the compass some do, when a car has an available nav system, there are those that consider it cleaner to not have the redundancy of a compass on the mirror.

My Lexus IS300 was that way. The nav system deleted the mirror compass.

 

I wondered this too. I've read somewhere that those with Navigation don't get the compass as it is displayed on the nav screen. I was a bit bummed out at first to find this but its not a big deal. I rarely need to know which direction I am going and if I do then the Nav will tell me.

 

I agree it's NO BIG DEAL..... just wondered why they would go out of their way to delete it on Nav cars....... every other car I have had in the last 10 years (alot) have had NAV AND a mirror with compass. I find it very handy when you just want to know the general direction...... don't need the NAV. Well at least I live in Florida where the sun shines most of the time so I can figure out what direction I am heading....lol....

 

I have an '08 with prem/nav - no compass (well at least on the mirror).

 

u can buy one at pep boys for 5 dolla

 

I guess only 07s come with the compass then...

 

I have an 07nav with the compass and I never use it. In my opinion, you're not missing much....

 

but the compass adds 10rwhp- I would go back to Infiniti to get a reflash

 

sigh u guys have no idea what you guys buy..... its sometimes sad.. somethings are very plainly written in the literature they put out there...

when u get nav.. the homelink mirror comes with no compass.

the fact that it is written in the literature doesn't make it any less of an issue of WHY would they do that? ALL other cars I have had just put the compass mirror in the car with or without GPS...... handy to have, no big deal ..... easier to just put it in than to exclude it

 

Wow... first Nissan takes your second center console LED, and now that go with a cheaper mirror with no compass???

At least you get the full iPod integration module!

 

i'm glad my g doesn't have a compass in the mirror - i've got navigation on the screen, why would i need an additional compass display on the mirror? more of a distraction or interference than a help.
i think it looks a little tacky in the mirror too.

 

It's not only that, most of the 08s have a large # of voice controls deleted because Infiniti thought it was too confusing for the customer.

So, 08s lose:
1. 2nd LED
2. Compass in the mirror
3. Many voice controls

but gains:
1. iPod integration
2. rear view camera packaged w/ nav
3. option for lighted side sills
4. less abrupt throttle response

I'll take the 08. The iPod integration is simply awesome. I can live w/o the other stuff.
