TPMS Question:

I was asked by someone on another forum if ours Gs have a true Tire Pressure Monitoring System. He is apparently looking into purchasing an 'X' and the dealer told him that in the Nav equipped cars it will actually display the tire pressure in each tire, not just pop the light on if one is low. Is this true??

I have never found it on mine, but I havent ever looked either b/c I have aftermarket wheels without the TPMS units in them...

I don't think the G displays actual tire pressure. Since the dealership claimed it does, tell that person to have the dealer demonstrate it. I foresee pwnage.

Maybe on the 08s? I know 07s don't come with individual sensors...just one saying "hey buddy...you have a low tire...pull over and check which one it is".

ALL G sedans have TPMS.

TPMS will only activate when the pressure is out of spec; on the M, FX, and QX, it'll display individual pressures after the car is moving.

The G does not display individual tire pressure. At least it does not advertise that fact in the Users Manual. You only get the low pressure icon, it does not even look like it tells which tire is low.

Even if it did, it is most likely just like our Nissan Quest. It shows 4 different tire pressures, but you have no idea which tires have what pressure. Kinda pointless.

Not individual, mines came on today... I had to check each tire. All my tires were not 33psi; however, the lowest one at 25psi turn on the sensor.

I have a question relating to this as well. The old guy at the dealership the last time I was there said they do nitrofill on all their cars and it helps prevent the tpms coming in because it doesnt change with the temperature differences from driving. Has anyone else heard of putting nitrogen in your tires and soes it really make a difference?

Yes, the nitrogen really works. People who race cars have been using it in their tires for years. The Infiniti dealership I got my car from does the nitro fill and it's great. I got my car in October of last year (tires filled with nitrogen) and my tires have not lost any air yet. I'm impressed, no tpms warning all through the winter and into the spring...

Nitrogen is just an inert gas that already makes up 80% of the air we breath. The next largest component is oxygen. In short, it's not gonna do anything exept possibly minimze oxidation on the inside of your wheel and tire. It will not reduce the chance of your TPMS coming on unless maybe you keep you tire at the minimum pressure which you shouldn't be doing anyways.

BTW .. I have not needed to put additional air into my tires for almost about 7 months now.

Some people really believe it works, but IMHO, a little over rated.

My favorite is the argument that its lighter than regular air. Because Nitrogen's atomic mass is lower than other components of regular air.... By filling your tires with pure nitrogen instead of air, you will shave of 0.000000001 lbs and 2.1 seconds in the quarter mile!!!

The 07 G's definitely don't have it. My buddy's old FX had it, but his new 07 G35X doesn't...so I've heard many complaints from him.
