Emblem Question

I was wondering if the Infiniti symbol on the trunk of my 08 sedan can be removed easily. (I know the "I N F I N I T I" can be taken off with fishing line.) I do not know if the Infiniti symbol is bolted to the trunk.

Thanks!

Comes right off with just like the lettering. A litttle heat will be helpful.

I got my I N F I N I T I lettering removed when my car was at the body shop and they wet sanded the spot afterwards. Now there are some (almost) unnoticeable marks where it looks like a layer of paint is gone.
Although the marks are seriously unnoticeable I'm hoping a good buffing will fix it.
Any opinions on this?

Sorry for the thread jack. I didn't want to start a thread for just this question.

Emblem removal....aka Debadging!

Do a search under DEBADGING, any questions you have can be found there!

I saw it at the body shop and they said that a buffing would fix it.
I figured I'll take it to a good place to buff it out rather than them.
It's really not noticeable unless you know it's there and look really close.
I'll try and get a picture to get some more opinions when I get my car back.

I actually have a spot like that as well on the pass. door where my wife used some tar remover to pull off some tar that got on there.... it needs a little buffing as well and the whole car is going to get a front to back heavy wax put on soon.

Let me guess. The spot you have seems like it's the right color just a bit more dull than the regular paint right? A little like it's missing the clearcoat...

a little dull, in fact, it's very very hard to see, unless you're at an extreme angle and the glare hits it just right.

they probably used an adhesive remover on yours, not wet sand.

That's exactly the same thing with mine.
No the bodyshop guy said that they used a precision blade to remove the emblems and it left very small scratches in the paint so they wetsanded it.
They used thinner to remove the adhesive but he said there was nothing there until they wetsanded.

I heated it up and rubbed it with my precision thumb. I used wd40 to remove the residue. I tested it on the inside of the trunk to see what effect it would have ("goof off" failed this test). Then tested a small exterior area in the case that the clear coat was different. Checked it in the sun light. Bottom line, a liitle patience and the result was flawless.

Yeah I should've just done it myself but I figured the bodyshop shouldn't screw up too bad. I was definitely wrong...
I'll be doing the G35 emblem myself when I get back.

They're just like anyone else. They'll be good at what they do on a regular basis. Not so much on things outside of that. The real key is finding somebody who will take the time to get things right even when they are not familiar with them.
