Injen CAI Review
Injen CAI Review
Alright, I decided to take it upon myself to install my long-awaited Injen Cold Air Intake this past Friday afternoon. I thought about doing a DIY, but forgot my digital camera and started around 2:30PM so I decided not to...it was a good idea too, because I finished around 7:30PM. I did this install with a friend also.
First, I want to let everyone know this install was a huge PITA. The instructions from Injen are not very detailed even though it helped...some of the steps are also backwards so you'll be finding yourself saying, "I can't do this unless I remove this"...etc. So thank you Injen for taking your time to give us detailed instructions...NOT!
Even though the instructions sucked a fat one...the parts were very well thought out...the fit and finish is superb. After I got everything put together I was very eager to start up the car and let it rip. I cranked the engine, and thank god, no weird lights popping up on my dash...success!
There is almost no noticeable difference in sound when leaving it in D and driving around town normally...actually, there is basically no difference in sound under 3000rpm. However, if you put it in manumatic mode, and rip it through the first gear...this intake produces the deepest growl i've ever heard from a CAI.
The best sound comes when the car is in 2nd gear and you halfway-floor it when you're at 30mph or around 3500rpm. Just the sound alone was worth the cost of the $315 I paid for this used Injen CAI. I do feel a small difference in power in the higher RPM's, but almost none below 3500rpm. I am very pleased with this intake system even though the install was very confusing and difficult. The sound alone makes this intake a worthy buy.
Please keep in mind that I have not heard any of the other intake systems in person so I cannot compare intake systems based on experience. Also, I believe this was a good buy for me because I was able to find the intake used. I still think the JWT popcharger is the best buy when buying new, but if you can find a used Injen intake, I highly recommend it.

Great write up...
So in your opinion does the CAI deliver the power gains Injen has claimed? I know the difference between the 3.7 and 3.5 are minimal but the gains claimed are a little out of this world.....whats are your thoughts on it?

sorry
idk if the sedan CAI is different but $315 for a used intake? unless it's that dual one i dont think so.. I paid $150 shipped for my used AEM CAI.. and why did it take you 5 hours to install? did you remove the front bumper? you can just go through the wheel well

IMO the CAI does not deliver the power gains Injen claims mainly because they claimed 14whp and I think that is pretty difficult to do...I don't think this intake makes that much whp from my "butt dyno", but I do think this intake can create anywhere from 6whp to 10whp depending on where in the powerband you're in.

I really don't see how you could go through the wheel well on this install because you have to relocate the 2nd horn and replace the washer fluid reservoir. you also have to remove the stock intake inlets and remove the intake reservoirs on both sides...so i don't see how this is possible...

that's true, i feel your pain since i live in hot & humid hotlanta lol
