Tpms (again!!!)

Okay a little different than the normal TPMS post. I changed out my journey wheel/tire set up for the Sport wheel tire set. I have TPMS in my new set but it is not the ones in my original journey set up...so ofcourse the TPMS sensor on the dash comes on.

I asked my dealer (the sales guys that may not know) how they reset the TPMS and the cost. He said they have to completely remove the tires to reset them and would likely cost $40 a wheel. Sounds like a load of BS to me.

So, my question is, how exactly are the TPMS re-paired with the new set? Is it an electronic wand of sorts that reprograms or do they really have to remove the tire to reset?

Thanks in advance...

That guy is definately BS-Ing You Bro! You do not half to ake any tires off. As long as your new rims have the TPMS sensors. they half to hook up the Cars computer to thiers, and recalibrate it to the car! I did mine at my Dealer when I switched to a set of G37 rims. and that all they did took maybe less than an Hour for them to do. and cost me $60 bucks total! SO that sales guy you asked needs to go and read about the cars, and learn not to tell you a load of Crock to customers! Good luck bro. and find a "Service Writer" not a salesman about this kind of stuff

Thanks 808MIKE. I'll call the service department to get the real word. Let you know how it goes.

I heard that this is strictly an Infiniti dealership thing.

Any idea if a local Nissan dealer can do it?

Nissan can do it. The one I went to didn't charge me anything. I asked if they charge for TPMS reset service and they just did it for free.
