Lead Weights?

I noticed 2 circular weights (or at least thats what they look like) behind the rear wheels of my 08 6MT sedan. Anyone know what they are for?

Thanks!

Can you post pics? or give a better description of size, where the are actually attached, etc?

my first thought was vibration dampener for the rear bumper cover... some manufacturers use plates that bolt to the bumper covers to cut down on vibration and add rigidity.

I know exactly what you are talking about. They are there to reduce vibration on the car. You can see them when you look in the back of the rear wheel wells right?

There are similar weights distributed all throughout the car.

I will post a better description when I take a second look at the car. They are approximatly 4-5 inches in diamter and about 2-3 inches thick. (Just going from memory, I will measure them later today)

Thanks

yes. Kneeling next to the car (possibly even standing) you can clearly see them.

haha. i was wondering what they were too. i mean 20+lbs each to take the back two off thats -40 to 50 lbs. isnt that a lot for perfomance/speed wise. however i do not know how that will affect the cars drive feel. anyone?

I just took mine off today, didn't notice a difference, but later tonight i'm gonna gun it to see if the rattle from the exhaust is louder, or softer or whatever. Its' funny cause it's attached straight to the muffer, so everyone with aftermarket exhausts dont have it anymore.

Could weights like these or even the stock ones be used to quell some of the vibrations/drones you get on aftermarket exhausts? If so, that would be very interesting. I've always feared aftermarket exhaust setups due to drones and vibrations. Is there somewhere to buy things like these?
