Question about wipers

My 08 X S has had problematic wipers since new. The dealer replaced the inserts a week after I got the car because they were "skipping". Now they are doing it again (6 months later). I know that these things should be replaced annually, but not every 5 or 6 months). In addition the passanger side wiper keeps hitting when it goes down.

Has anyone ever had issues with the short life of the inserts or misalignment of the wiper arm itself? All I get from the dealer is an attitude.

Maybe if they drove the car in foul weather, they'd be inclined to fix it.

Thanks

^ that's definitely not right.
Sounds like the drive motor misaligned or something similar that's causing premature wear.

....no similar issue with mine.

I usually replace my wipers yearly, but they have been working great for the last two years. I am going to replace them in a few weeks when I am at the Dealers since they are that old even though they work great.

Actually Consumer Reports recently reviewed wipers and very few did good after 6 months of use, most wipers suck, they take a beating and deal with all sorts of elements and chemicals.

I'm pretty sure they aren't aligned properly. The wipers on my moms car work really well since we had them.

I would think the same thing.

was the report about wiper blades itself, the motor moving the blade or the unit as a whole?

Bent arm(s)? Weak spring? Deposits on windshield? Lots of use?

Thanks for all of your comments

I have confirmed that the drive motor is to blame.

Again, Thanks
