Why is it possible to shift from D to N while driving?

What happens if it had shifted all the way to R (i don't think it is possible since you'd have to push the **** and brake, i hope).

Every AT also will not have you go to R without first pushing the button.
Maybe you should practice more on how NOT to shove the shifter into N. Thats never happened to me ever, although when I was younger, as a passenger it iwas fun to slide people's AT shifters into N at stoplights.
