Why is it possible to shift from D to N while driving?

And to think they made autos pretty much dummy proof for people who don't know how to drive stick.

Pretty much every automatic transmission on the planet allows you to do this.

Every AT also will not have you go to R without first pushing the button.

Maybe you should practice more on how NOT to shove the shifter into N. Thats never happened to me ever, although when I was younger, as a passenger it iwas fun to slide people's AT shifters into N at stoplights.

or a ford ranger at 60mph on the highway, ahahaha, it just shuts off after a few seconds.
