steering column "knock"

Among other rattles...this one occurs over moderate bumps...sounds like plastic on plastic, or hard rubber.
The sound itself somewhat resembles the the turn signal "click".

(And NO its not the turn signal!)

Thanks!

Do you think it could be related to this:

Considering I hear it only when I go over bumps, Id have to say no, as of now.

Hmmm....

In my '97 Maxima, I had what I thought was a steering column knock. It really sounded like it was coming from the steering column, and I only heard it while driving over bumps or jerking the steering wheel to the side while driving.

I brought the car in for service...turned out that a pen fell into the vent on top of the dashboard.

Do your sounds occur while the car is still?

I used to occasionally experience the same noise. However, my entire steering column was replaced under warranty just last week (because it would not telescope in/out). I *think* I haven't heard the knocking since, but I'm not sure yet. I do know that the new steering column definitely fixed the problem where it'll move down just a bit if you pull on it.
