Passenger Side Airbag Turns Off Whenever My Girlfriend Rides In The Car

Hey guys, so I've had my 2007 G35 Sport 6MT for about two months now and I've noticed that about 90% of the time that my girlfriend is riding in the passenger seat, the airbag turns off. This is a big problem because I obviously want the damn airbag to work if I get in a wreck. She's about the only person that ever rides in the car with me so this is a big deal. She only weighs 110 lbs, so I guess that might be the problem, but that's certainly enough to trigger the sensor. Even if she shift around or sits on the front of the seat or back or either side, it won't turn the airbag back on, any ideas?

Definitely call your dealership. There was a recall on passanger side airbag seat detector. I think someone may have posted info here. Try searching around.

well if shes over 2 and weighs more than 25lbs. then go to dealership//could have a short in the sensor and you should still be under warranty

My Girlfriend was sitting in the passenger side as well today usually she's fine, but she was slouching in a weird way and I noticed that the Light came on that the bag was off.

I mean when i drive with no one in the passenger seat the airbag offlight doenst' come on either. So I'm just worried that even if the light doenst' come on it's still off....

HAHAHAHA....I don't know why, but when I read that I laughed...

it sounds like your car really doesn't like your girlfriend. She must have slamed the door or something and your G, having a mind of its own, wanted revenge.

nevermind me.

I have the same problem with my girl and she is 110 as well. She has to move around and sit up before the sensor catches it.

three people here have proven it, infiniti is anti-girlfriend lol. the ultimate test would be to put someone her weight in there see if it turns on if it doesnt have her sit and watch it turn on lol! that would be amazing.

You could always get a heavier girlfriend. I can't guarantee that'll work with since there is a recall, but you can always give that a shot if the dealership gives you trouble.

My wife is petite; 90% of the time the passenger airbag light turns on. I addressed the TSB at the dealership. They said they tested the sensors, but that everything was in spec. Oh well.
