Exhaust Problem after Lowering G
Hey Boys & Girls,
I have a small problem with my exhaust since I lowered the car with Eibach Pro Kit 3 weeks ago, I did noticed this vibrating noise before the car was lowered, but after the springs were changed the noise increased, and now a new problem showed up. I can clearly hear vibration on the passenger side from the exhaust, and when I put it in reverse in incline or not a straight surface it gets even worse, the part that bugs me the most is I'm at a stop light and I can hear the vibration in the back, also when I go over small inperfections it sounds like the exhaust is loosed and it bounces, I believe is the passenger side exhaust is the one causing the problem, I got under there last week to see if anything was loosed, but nothing even took out my tools and try to move things around, but nothing moved.
I'm going to try to take it to infiniti today for them to check it out, but I want to save the trip if I can fix this myself, anyone that has lowered their vehicle ever experience anything similar with their setup?.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Lowering should have no impact on the exhaust.
I'm not quite as low as Eibach, but I am lowered with FI exhaust & there is no problem.
You need to get the car up on stands so that you can check underneath, if you want to do it yourself.
It may not be the exhaust, especially if you are still OE exhaust.
It may be a loose heat shield.
Those things can vibrate like a mother, if they're loose.
If you take it in to Infiniti, don't even mention the Eibachs,
just tell them the noise has been there for a long time.

I know its a new car but almost sound like a heat shield is lose have you been under the car at all?
yep brought it up on stands last week, I compare both sides and the heat shield that goes around the muffler didn't move when I shaked it, the thing about the sound is, it doesn't sound like a rattle that you get when the heat shield is loosed, this sound solid like the whole exhaust is moving back there, and the vibration might be also related to it, the only way I can describe it is something is hitting the spare or around the same area when going over uneven surfaces, and I did check to see if the spare was secure as well, and even took everything out and still hearing the same problem.
yea is a solid sound, but is at the rear end, and yes the exhaust end hooks to a rubber triangle that feels like is nice and tight, I could move it if I put enough forced at the end, btw thanks for the suggestions guys keep them coming.

LOL i know I"m a bit confused as well, I'll check the links, but on a 6 month old car i'm not sure if bushing will be an issued yet
, is there any way to adjust our exhausts at any area maybe I need to adjust it, one thing I did noticed was that the driver side pipe sat higher than the passenger side even though the passenger side doesn't move.

Yea I know to new right..
but maybe a bolt is loose. If the exhaust hangs different it could be just a bent hanger that happened durning transport. that would be an easy fix just bend it back.

See if you can get your car onto an alignment rack or similar lift because the suspension will be loaded.
If you can hear the noise at a stop light, it should be easy to isolate on the rack with the motor running.

Hey guys thanks for the info, just came back from the Dealer and the technician saw the problem, I remember whenthe tire shop brought the vehicle up the hoist to check fitment with the new rims, the center arms were not lowered all the way down, so I was there when I saw the car jerk forward when it hit the arms, I didn't see any damage when they bought it up so I let it go, it turns out that the exhaust has been push backward by an inch, even the rubber anchor at the rear are not straight anymore they are facing the rear, and I guess the holder in the middle is also not sitting right, so they gave me two routes either upgrade to an aftermarket exhaust, or they can order an OEM exhaust, is going to be double than the aftermarket.
I was thinking of upgrading the exhaust, but I just bought new summer rims and tires, winter tires, and new suspension including both alignment kits, so according to my plan I was thinking of waiting a few months before doing the change, but now that this happened i'm not sure if I should go ahead and order it or try to repair the damage myself, they are going to give me a quote on a catback stillen setup, they said that it should be around $2200 CAD or less that includes installation, I'm not sure what I should do now.
btw forgot to add the hit is after the Y split closed to the front of the vehicle, and it is bent right int he middle where it hit the hoist, I though I was the one that hit the entrance of the garage, but than I remember this little incident.

check a local muffler shop, i had a little accident with a curb that was about 2 feet high - knocked the stock exhaust off its hangar but they were able to fix it.
order the stillen direct - it's only 1060 shipped in US dollars, dealers will mark that up SO much
Since you're in the market for a new exhaust, do the research....you have a lot of options. Also, as popcornten mentioned, don't buy from the dealer. Online vendors will always be cheaper than the dealer.
