License Plate LED Pics

Anyone who's thinking of changing license plate bulbs to LED, it's one of the easiest and inexpensive mods. Do it!

Some others have recommended V-LEDs bulbs, but I haven't tried them.

The ones I bought are from autolumination.com, they were highly recommended from the TL forum with pics and comparisons. The exact bulbs are called SuperNova, here is a pic of the LED 194 bulb from the website.

Now for the b4 and after pics.
Pic1 - before without LED mod

Pic2 - regular bulb on left, LED on right

Pic3 - both LED bulbs installed

These bulbs are just the right brightness, and even and pure white output that everyone is looking for.

I did the same and have to agree it looks great! I got mine from SuperBrightLED. I use the 4 LED mini Wedge Light blub. Photo of the contrast is attached. The Left is the original and the right is the new 4-LED bulb.

why do you guys want your license plate more visable? I'd be interested in getting really really dim license plate lights.

I want one that floods the licence plate so you can't read it

You got something to hide? Only kidding.

Don't be fooled by my pics, the Canon camera was set to the night setting mode to make the pics better exposed. Instead of the yellow incandescent hue of the OEM bulb, LEDs produce a clean white light. I would say it's on par with light output.

www.Autolumination.com is an excellent website for aftermarket LED bulbs.. theyve got the widest selection ive seen and I've never had any trouble with them.. used their stuff in the past 3 vehicles I've owned. Quick shipping too!! What are the turn signal bulbs in the new G? are they 3157s or 1157s?

No wirings whatsoever.

Just pop off each license plate light housing, twist and remove the fixture from the back, and replace with new bulb. That's it!

psymong35,

Looks good also. From the pic, it looks like the 4LED mini wedge isn't as wide-angled. Is this the bulb you purchased?

With both bulbs replaced, is the centered shadowed a little, or is the plate lit up evenly? Do you have a pic with both LEDs?

Boy... they 'seem' brighter - maybe it's just because they're whiter in color.
Not sure if I like it. Can someone do a wider angle shot so we can see the ground beneath? TIA.

if you buy from autolumination or superbrightleds, better order extras for any exterior bulbs because they will end up flicker soon than later. they're not as good of quality for the extreme heat/cold/sun. for the license plates, i'd go with the PIAA wedge bulbs. i've had mine on for almost a year w/o any problems. autolumination and superbrightleds always go out within 6 months.
