I've done a few covers. All I used was some duplicolor sandable primer....about 3 thin coats and then some duplicolor paint of my choice....about 3 thin coats...topped off with some duplicolor clear coat....2 medium coats.

You don't need high temp paint and don't try to cut corners by not using primer either

Ready for primer

Ready for paint

Finished product

Sorry..I should have added more detail

Primer
After you mask off any parts you don't want to paint....you apply the primer...use thin coats so you don't get any overspray. Before you apply the final coat of primer, take 600 grit sandpaper and sand any blemishes or partilcles off that might have come about during the primer coats...wipe down with a micro-fiber towel after sanding then apply the last coat of primer. (15 to 20 minutes between coats).

Paint
You also want to apply thin coats for the same reason..to avoid any overspray. I typically wait about 20 minutes between coats.

Clear
Clear is the hardest to work with because you can't typically see it go on. Keep the spray can moving side to side....apply in thin coats and let it dry for 30 minutes between coats.

Once you've let it cure over night, you can come back and do a buff on the clear with some buffing compound if desired.

Oh..and the masked off part....do the same as above. It's all the same material.

Happy modding

wtf?
LOL!

The Mt. Fuji can be removed (and should be to make it easier to paint). It has two pins with push washers on the back. Remove the push washers and then pry the emblem off...its also held on with double sided tape (you don't need to add tape back when putting it back on). The V6 lettering can't be removed (if I remember correctly). It might be held on with double sided tape....I forget...I didn't remove it.

Oh...as for the color....do what you like man. You can always change it up again later...re-paint
