Angry console power supply?

Hey all,

I recently picked up an 07 G35S with nav, prem, tech. I noticed the power supply located in the console does not work (engine running). However the cig lighter supply does work. Could this be due to a blown fuse? Can anyone guide me to which fuse to check and any other ways I can identify the problem?

Thanks

If your cig lighter works, then it is not a fuse problem. It is whatever adapter you are putting into the power supply. I have a adapter that I use for a radar and it has a small fuse it in. You might try looking inside the adapter.

thanks for the reply. guess i'm gonna have to get it checked out. I have tried three different adapters that fit snuggly into the power supply with the same results. would this fall under warranty?

In my '08 sedan the lighter and the power plug in the console use 2 different fuses. They are either 10 or 15 Amp. I have my radar detector on 1 fuse and my Garmin GPS on the other.

Edit 1: I just checked the power diagram for the lighter and console power and yes they are on different fuses:
Lighter - fuse 18
Console power - 20

And both are 15 amp.

If the fuses check out fine, check whether the adapter you're using has a long enough spring contact for the console (which seems to have a deeper contact point). I have a Garmin traffic receiver adapter that works just fine without much manipulation when used in the cigarette lighter outlet but has to be pushed "all the way" to the contact point in the console outlet to work. Try several different adapters in the console - if even one of them works, you've got your answer.
