Here's some pics of my completely blacked out grille on a stock OB G35x. I followed a DIY post from the forum and it went really smoothly. I have a lot of nicks in the paint now, but that's after driving about 12,000 miles after painting. The nicks are small and I'll cover them with touch-up when the weather warms up.

If you're going to paint your headlights as well, go all black except for Fuji.

If you're not going to paint your headlights, do it like the Midnight Grille.

ENJOY!

do "A" first. if you don't like it, you can always do "B" next.

Love the look on an OB! I have been trying to figure out what to do with my beat up stock grill. At first I liked the midnight but getting away from that now.. looking into either repainting it the chrome or going all black as well for my PG. Does anyone have the blacked out grill on a PG? Not much luck tracking down any photos on a V36.

Is it a beat up EXTRA grill or is it beat up and still on the car. If its the later then the dealer should replace it under warranty if you don't have too many miles on her.
Mine was replaced, N/C and the new one is holding on to the chrome much better than the original. No chips at all.

No, the grill is still in on the car. I tried getting it replaced under warranty and even with putting up a fight I got the old wear and tear BS. No luck there so I have been looking at some alternatives. Posted up a pic of my G for any photoshop gurus that might be up for helping out. Funny enough in that picture the grill looks pretty good but it is far from it haha.

Thats just not right! It's not the dealers decision. It's a defective part IMO.
Did you try calling Infiniti? They know there is a problem with the original '07 grills and they would have record of replacing hundreds by now.
When I was talking to them I made a point of telling them that I looked at much older cars at my office parking lot that had plenty of chips in the front car paint but none in the chrome grills and that these where cars like civics and ford focus.

I tried to make the comparison to other grills as well.. . When it came to that I got "you can't compare products from different manufacturers, the grill isn't defective". Then I went ahead and said many 07' grills have been replaced due to the chipping issue. Next was "we haven't replaced a single grill for the 07s" This was coming from the service manager as well. When it comes time for me to purchase a new car you can be sure it won't be at Kelly Infiniti. Every time I go in there for anything it seems like the service just sucks.

If you are unhappy with the dealership you really should call Infiniti USA. By doing so you may get the support you deserve PLUS you will be helping other future customers of Kelly Infiniti, assuming Infiniti head office tells them to shape up.
Good luck.
