philips ultinon vs garax

I was looking into 6000k HID's. The philips ultinon are double the price. But are they that much better in color and output? Do the philips give a greater light output? Are the philips more reliable? Does anybody have pictures for both?

The construction quality is totally different. Cheap capsules are epoxied to a plastic body. OE quality bulbs like the Ultinon have metal standoffs and have higher quality control. That said, I have had cheap bulbs last 3+ years with no problems. I was also lucky and got a pair of Ultinons off ebay for $120 shipped.

Edit: my bad... Garax does make some HID capsules with metal standoffs for about $100/pair. Look pretty good to me!

Color is subjective. To my eyes, the Ultinons do not produce the same light output as a generic 6000k bulb. That does not mean they are better. I have bought HID bulbs that do not match in color!!! Like I said, the quality control may not be as good as a premier maker of bulbs.

I dunno but I've already gone for the garax, so I'll see how they are once I install them. If I don't like them or they blow on me then I'll just get the More expensive Phillips

I've started looking at 5000k bulbs, since 6000k gives you much less light output (~1000 fewer lumens). Does anybody know if these are real?
